Signage for Boo’s Toy Shop Poundbury

The Challenge.

The lovely Charlotte, owner of Boo’s Toy Shop in Poundbury, Dorchester, was moving to a new, larger location which required some new signage. I was asked to design a new shop sign, roller banner, pavement sign, magazine advertisement and social post to promote the move.

The Solution.

It was great to see the Boo’s Toy Shop having brand guidelines and vector elements I could play with instantly to put these materials together. In respect to these situations where branding and design elements are already a core part of the name, I had to be careful in not to deter from what makes Boo’s recognisable.

For the new shop sign, roller banner, magazine ad and social post, it was important to keep consistency across the board and to continue using the fun, playful, illustrative elements previously in Boo’s branding. In addition to this, I added my own, larger coloured shapes to provide split the primary white background, but still in keeping with the theme. I provided multiple colour variations of the shop sign initially, which lead to following the same direction in style for the rest of the project focusing on a white/beige background so the coloured shape elements were allowed to pop.

  • Bright, vibrant and fun illustration
  • Following a brief
  • Respected current branding and illustrative elements
  • Supporting the local community
  • Keeping a constant theme throughout
